What is a “Ghost Walk?”
A ghost walk is our modern interpretation of the tradition of sharing ghost stories. We explore some stunning locations, with dark pasts and ghostly reputations, and I share purportedly real ghost stories as your story teller for the evening.
How much are the walks
Adult tickets (14+) for the walks are priced at just £7.50 a ticket if purchased in advance from EventBrite. Children's tickets (under 14s) are available for £5 as an addon at checkout.
You're welcome to turn up and join us on the night too of course!
On the night prices, when not booked in advance, are £10 for adult and £6 for child's tickets.
I accept all major forms of Contactless Payments including Contactless card, Apply Pay, and Google pay.
Private walks are also available please check out the Private Bookings option or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Special walks, such as for Halloween and Christmas, are priced at £10 each in advance and £12 on the night. These walks typically run longer than normal.
If you have mobility issues there is no need to worry. All of my walks are fully wheelchair accessible. Please note that they are about a mile in length but we cover the distance at a gentle pace. Sheffield being Sheffield, though, there’s inevitably a few hills involved.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
What time do they start and how long do they last?
City Centre walks all start at 8pm. The Graves Park walk start time varies so please check when buying your tickets.
Walks last 90-100 minutes and cover around a mile. Both walks are circular routes.
Where do they start / end?
The Graves Park walk actually starts in the Norton area of Sheffield on the footpath besides Saint James Church where there is plenty of parking.
The City Centre walk begins on Tudor Square outside Sheffield Central Library.
Please aim to be there about ten minutes early so I can check everyone in.
Are they suitable for children?
Given the content I leave it to parents discretion as to whether they believe the walks to be suitable for children or not. That being said? There's worse tales being told by the wonderful people who run Horrible Histories.
The walks content won't be toned down.
The only exception for this would be if it's a private walk for a Scout Troup or similar and I have been asked to tone it down.
Are there any jump scares?
No. These are just great local stories, told well, with no gimmicks.
That being said we have had foxes, bats, geese, parakeets, and several hen dos jump out at us on previous walks.
How do I book? Can I just turn up?
Booking in advance is £7.50 for adults and £5 via EventBrite.
You are more than welcome to join us on the night but please beware that on the night prices are £10 for adults and £6 for children.
I can no longer make the walk. Can I get a refund?
Of course! However refund requests for the walks are only considered up until 72 hours before the day of the walk. This is to allow the best chance of offering them to someone else.
Refunds for missed walks will not be given. It is your responsibility to make sure that you do not miss the tour!
Refunds will be the cost of the event, minus a small fee taken by EventBrite, as per EventBrites ticketing policy given I currently have chosen to absorb the booking fee
If you cancel the tour will I get a refund?
In the unlikely event I have to cancel a full refund will be given to all with tickets.
What about the weather?
As a general rule, in the case of bad weather, it’s very much a case of the show must go on. A dark and stormy night can really add to the atmosphere by providing a suitably spooky backdrop.
That being said, if a red weather warning or similar is in place, or if we’re seeing biblical levels of rain, we will cancel and a full refund will be given. A rescheduled date will also be offered.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed on the Graves Walk due to it taking place near farm animals along with various wildlife. The city centre walk I leave it to your own discretion.
Can I buy a copy of your book on the walks?
I can not sell copies of my books on the Strange Sheffield City Centre Walk. Copies will be available on the Graves walks.
If you already have a copy, however, I will be more than happy to sign them on the night.
Anything else I need to know?
All my events operate with all relevant permissions in place where needed.
I'm also a member of the union Equity and I have full public liability insurance in place.
Parking / public transport?
For the City Centre walks any City Centre car park around Arundel Gate is ideal. For those using Public Transport? The Arundel Gate Interchange is a very short walk from our start / end point.
For the Graves Park walk there is plenty of parking available and the 1 Stagecoach bus stops next to our start / end point. The First Bus 20 service stops about a 5-10 minute walk away.
All walks are timed to end to allow maximum public transport options for travelling home.
